German IT major SAP has joined hands with Anand-based dairy pioneer Amul for a community outreach program, ‘Code Unnati’, under its Corporate Social Responsibility. Both companies will work together on knowledge transfer and technology capacity building in the country.
SAP aims to transform the lives of 1.5 million people by enabling social entrepreneurship, skill development, and digital inclusion among people of different ages, women and farmers.

RS Sodhi, Managing Director of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, Ltd, (Amul), shared his thoughts on the initiative,” Over 66 per cent of India’s population lives in rural areas. Most of the rural population who lives in India depends on agriculture, animal husbandry, and dairying for their livelihood. With an objective of inclusive and sustainable community development, Amul and SAP has joined the project. Under the project, quality digital literacy and skill interventions training imparted to school-going children and teachers.”
“Our collaboration with SAP is a step forward in bringing these rural communities into the mainstream by empowering them to hone essential future skills and turn their dreams into a reality. Our hope is that it will go a long way in nation-building and creating an Atmanirbhar India,” he added.
As per the release, SAP has remained a long term IT partner of Amul. Hence working together on a social cause is a natural extension for both. As a result, companies have jointly worked on a digitally inclusive ecosystem to impart knowledge in computers, English, and socio-economic opportunities.
Companies together will accomplish their commitment to innovation and a healthy environment.
Four Key pillars of the campaign:
- Digital Literacy: Companies will provide digital literacy, coding, problem-solving and spoken English training in remote villages as per the New Education Policy
- Vocational Training: SAP will build a STEM-focused learning environment to help students from underprivileged backgrounds for a better school to workforce transition. The company will focus on reducing school dropouts and creating an employable talent pool by encouraging critical reasoning and analytical thinking
- Women empowerment and developing entrepreneurship training: Rural women will be given entrepreneurial opportunities. It aims at imparting digital financing skills and functional communications to 20000 young women
- Support Farmer livelihoods: The company is keen on improving biodiversity, reducing soil erosion and increasing green cover. For this, it will provide livilhood options to farmers and their families

SAP and Amul have collaborated with Pratham Foundation to impart digital literacy to one lakh school going students and over 20000 adults across 70 villages of Anand and in six other districts of Gujarat.
