Adani Group is planning open its Adani University in Ahmedabad with a vision of developing a knowledge-based ecosystem that will bridge the skill gap between the industry requirements and the country’s education system.
The Adani group had sought approval to establish its private University from the Government of Gujarat through the Adani Institute of Education and Research (AIER). Consequently, the Gujarat State Assembly has unanimously passed a bill seeking the establishment of a university under its Gujarat State Private Universities Act, 2009.
While discussing the gaps in the country’s education system, Dr Priti G Adani, Chairperson, Adani Foundation and Trustee, Adani Institute for Education and Research (AIER), said, “It is critical to take proactive measures to transform and bridge this gap through upskilling. At Adani University, we aim to create a model that aligns with industry imperatives. We want to build the right talent set and fulfil the competency gap by imparting the right knowledge, right skills, and the right attitude and make the learners feel complete as a professional and as a person and continue contributing to nation-building.”
Adani Foundation, through various initiatives, has been actively participating in harnessing India’s demographic dividends. On the education front, the foundation runs schools under ‘Adani Vidhyamandir’ for children deprived of primary education. In addition, the group runs the Adani Institute of Infrastructure, which offers students full-time engineering courses.
“A knowledge-based ecosystem at Adani University will encourage transformative research that addresses real-world problems creating impact. We want to build a platform to contribute to increasing productivity, achieve social and national integration, accelerate the process of modernization, and cultivate social, moral, and spiritual values.”, Dr Priti added.
Gujarat Government accorded Adani University a private university status after carefully evaluating the AIER’s application and proposal for a transformational university. The application was scrutinized by a committee nominated by the Gujarat State Education Department. Only after the committee’s recommendations had the state government brought it for consideration in the State Assembly.
Adani Group focuses on building young individuals with university education; hence, Adani University will start offering programs in Academic Year 2022.
